Tape face vegas show12/29/2023 This is a full-blown 360-degree theatrical production, not just a glute-clenching, ab-flexing, all-male beefcake parade. Las Vegas is a place of equal-opportunity sexy shows with varying degrees of nudity-the Chippendales have long been mainstays at The Rio, and there are plenty of similarly ab-centric shows from Thunder from Down Under, Aussie Heat, etc. Absinthe | Photo by Erik Kabik, courtesy of Caesars Palace Axell sets the eerie, quiet tone as he demonstrates authentic 120-year-old artifacts from Edison’s era and walks guests through a hair-raising, electrifying experience. Hosted by magician and mentalist Kent Axell, the Séance Room experience starts with some cheeky acts before attendees are spirited off to a private room with a massive séance table as its centerpiece. The Séance Room is the latest addition, a separate show-within-the-show inspired by Thomas Edison’s scientific achievements and obsession with the spirit realm. Some acts perform only one day a week, so every night is a different experience, and new acts are constantly being added. Even the most seasoned Vegas show-goer has never seen it done like this. And while you might say you’ve seen all these types of things before, know this: this is the highest-caliber talent in the most intimate of venues. There are some seriously strong strongwomen (former Olympic gymnasts). There’s burlesque, belly dancing, snake charming, magic, mentalism, contortion, and juggling. You’ll see a fusion of dance and aerial acrobatics, including capoeira, tango, flamenco, and aerial roller skates. This is a truly immersive experience, where performances happen all around you just a few feet away as carnival barkers and sequined songstresses guide you through a vaudevillian circus of magic and sideshows. But 10 minutes in and I bet the inner geek in you will want to get on that stage! Put your worries aside enjoy this endless fun.Not quite a show, Lost Spirits is designed to leisurely explore, rum snifter in hand, and get deliriously lost as you wander from stage to stage, exploring all the different hidden rooms and tucked-away performance areas. If you’re worried about being picked, Tape Face’s show may not been your cup of tea, so to speak. And the show concludes via an endless array of red balloons that are released from up above. In addition these audience games, Tape Face entertains like trying to do a Rubik’s cube and interacting with various props. Jodi Berman as Demi Moore I can rationalize. Then there was my wife Jodi set up by Tape Face in a reenactment of that classic Demi Moore pottery scene in the 1990 film Ghost. What transpired on stage were mindless interactions like a gun fight between Tape Face and an audience member while wearing chemistry lab goggles and holding three balloons a guy who is given coveralls, a Hawaiian shirt, a road worker vest and a construction hat to wear before doing a striptease a woman who is directed to do some poses while she kneeled on a chair a dance contest where two guys compete for a t-shirt and a woman standing on a chair using a toy golf club to try to hit ping pong balls off of a blow dryer onto a dustpan taped to a broom handle. No one is safe sitting in the audience when he comes running off the stage with a flash light in his hand looking for his next victim. Following an opening from the equally oddball (and quite funny) Christina Balonek as Phyllis Vanillis, Tape Face’s assistant, a parade of audience members (my wife Jodi included) were handpicked by Tape Face at different times to join him.
